OUR JOURNEY

 

The BACKRUNS® founding team comprise over 80 years of experience in technology start-ups, working in global corporates, and in delivering products and projects around the world. Moving on from corporate life, running a Chauffeur business, the founders discovered issues in the Private Hire Industry: how flawed, and how constantly under pressure from the impact of the work, through to constant rule changes, fines, tolls, restrictions. But it was the clients that made it worthwhile.  

 

Back in November 2019 - a bitter cold day - was the day that changed everything. 

 

That day was a turning point when independent private hire was truly understood; Brilliant services but based on single trips, wasted empty miles, no safety-net, laboriously chasing of other disparate independent private hire operators with no profitability. Never had there been any solution to this other than to become a large booking service and to spend time matching trips for greatest number of back-runs and efficiency. However, this solution leaves drivers out in the cold having to work longer hours and less pay. An employee rather than in control of their own destiny… 

 

Two Founders had The Vision, and when a client became the third partner, BACKRUNS® was born:  

 

A driver focussed booking platform designed by chauffeurs, tailored for chauffeurs; Quick, no messing, highly functional and streamlined for the independent operator and driver. Uniquely protecting and leveraging the driver operator independence status and at the same time creating a protected driver group or collaborative Circle.
